This year, I decided to donate to the people who protected our country against all odds: Veterans. I have always been a huge pacifist, and I am against war because of the destruction it causes. Veterans have faced that destruction, and death right before their eyes, leaving scars of trauma that one could not be able to tell at first glance. Thus, I decided to donate to The Headstrong Project. They are an organization that helps veterans with PTSD, and other such mental health issues. This is something that I feel very strongly about, and it is a very tiny way for me to give back to our true heroes.
We were able to raise roughly $1,775 this lemonade stand. Without the help of this community, we would not have been able to reach this goal. Microsoft matched the money, and we were able to give approximately $3,550 to The Headstrong Project. I very good that this worked out the way it did.
The Headstrong Project was very happy with this donation, and I was very grateful I was able to do this. They were able to offer a significant number of first-time, free therapy sessions. This community enabled me to give back to many veterans the chance to heal themselves. A few months later on my thirteenth birthday, they sent me a number of gifts some of them being a water bottle, and a power bank. Along with the gifts, I received a very heartfelt card from them which made me feel very humble and grateful deep inside.
